About JUELL and HOVLAND
Welcome to OUR site!
This website was created on Jan 17 2009. I started my search in 1993 and had in excess of 280 relatives. I lost all my files when my old computer collapsed. Luckily I had some printed out and now I have to add the relatives one by one.If you have any questions or comments you may send a message to the Administrator of this site.

If information is known, there will be added some words in connection with certain people. The notes can be read if you highligt this person.

About The Juell and the Hovland Family

I am very interested in the Juell and Hovland family.
It is not easy to start finding old relatives.

JUELL FAMILY:
For me it started on a vacation to Denmark. I visited Juelsminde and I started reflecting about my middle name Juell. Could it come from Denmark? Once I came back home I took contact with my old relatives still living. They gave me a start and I got more and more interested in this subject. I visited libraries and found a lot of information and at present it goes back to: Juel, Palle, born 16 Nov 1255, Denmark
I have also information through relatives in USA that the famous Thor Heyerdahl is linked to our tree! To get further about Juell (Juul, Juel etc.)I have to go to Copenhagen and dig into very old papers and files. Our family has been "discovered" by a distant relative in Sweden: Barbro Hedberg. She has a huge
data base with Swedish, German and Norwegian relatives.

Please "stay tuned" - new family members
 will be added......

New entries will be added in Norwegian - if interested in English translation, send request to administrator.

HOVLAND FAMILY:
To find Hovland elder family member was really hard. It was common in "the old days" to take as your last name the name of the place one was born or lived. As for the Hovland name it started at Bømlo, Norway. My great grandfather and his family lived at Hovland. When they moved to Haugesund, they carried the name Hovland. So the Hovland "name" started around 1800. However, I have succeeded to find ancestors back close to Norway's
first king, Harald Haarfagre. The last entry - sofar - is Andres Simonsen (d. 1218).

NILSEN FAMILY (on my mothers side):
Entries will be made as far back as possible.

So, enjoy and send comments or even updates. It would be highly appreciated!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
